✅What is UGC NET JRF?
UGC NET is a national-level exam conducted to determine the eligibility for Assistant Professor and/or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges.

✅​ Who conducts the UGC NET exam?
The exam is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of UGC.

✅​ Who is eligible for JRF?
Candidates with a master’s degree (or appearing in final year) with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Transgender) are eligible. JRF has an age limit of 30 years (relaxations apply).

✅​ Is JRF and NET the same?
No. NET qualifies you to become an Assistant Professor, while JRF qualifies you for both Assistant Professor and receiving a fellowship for research (PhD).

✅​ How many times is UGC NET conducted in a year?
It is typically conducted twice a year – usually in June and December.

✅​ What is the validity of JRF and NET certificates?
JRF: Valid for 3 years from the date of result.
NET: Valid for lifetime (for Assistant Professor eligibility).

✅​ What is the exam pattern?
Two papers:
Paper 1: 50 questions (General Teaching & Research Aptitude)
Paper 2: 100 questions (Subject-specific) Both papers are conducted in a single 3-hour session.

❌ No, there is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

✅​ What is the syllabus for UGC NET?
Paper 1: Common for all (teaching aptitude, reasoning, comprehension, etc.)
Paper 2: Based on your chosen subject (like Commerce, English, History, etc.)

✅​ What is the age limit for JRF?
30 years for General (as of the first day of the month in which the exam is held)
Relaxation: +5 years for SC/ST/OBC/Women/PwD/Transgender/Armed Forces/PhD holders.

Unlimited attempts for NET (no age bar)
JRF: You can apply till age limit allows

✅​ How is JRF awarded?
Top-performing candidates in each subject/paper who are within the age limit qualify for JRF, based on cut-offs and merit list.

✅​ What is the stipend for JRF?
JRF fellows get:
₹31,000/month (for the first 2 years)
₹35,000/month (for the next 3 years as SRF) Plus HRA, depending on the institution.

✅​ Can I pursue PhD after clearing JRF?
Yes! You can directly join a PhD program with funding via JRF in UGC-recognized institutions.

✅​ Can I apply for both Assistant Professor and JRF?
